On Thursday 28 August 2025, the Evens Foundation and AWE Studio will host an event in The Hague to mark the launch of The Book of Common Ground: Fairytales for a Polarised World in hardback. The evening, titled Creative Responses to Polarisation in Europe, will take place at Blik, Weimarstraat 300, from 19:00 to 21:30.
The event will bring together speakers from the arts, civil society, and media to explore how creativity can help bridge divides, including a discussion with New York-based Dutch illustrator Clemens den Exter.
Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with others working on related issues, and be among the first to purchase the hardback edition of the book.
The Book of Common Ground was developed in partnership with the Evens Foundation and AWE Studio, with illustrations by Den Exter. The project grew out of an intergenerational workshop held before the 2024 European elections, where participants discussed how the fairytale form might be used to open up constructive conversations on divisive topics.
Informed by Re-Imagine Europa’s R.E.F.R.A.M.E methodology, the book aims to provide an imaginative but grounded way to engage across political lines. Its combination of narrative and illustration offers a format that can be used in different settings, from classrooms to community discussions.
Admission to the event is free, but advance registration is required. Tickets can be reserved here.
