Exploring how technology is reshaping political participation among Gen Z and young voters

Political Tech Summit 2026 to Feature Youth Track Co-Curated by the Evens Foundation

The Political Tech Summit 2026, taking place in Berlin on 23–24 January, will include a dedicated Youth Track co-hosted and co-curated by the Evens Foundation. With four sessions over two days, the track will focus on how Gen Z and young voters engage with democratic life through the digital technologies that structure their everyday experience.

The Political Tech Summit is an annual convening for practitioners, policymakers, researchers and technologists working at the intersection of democracy and digital innovation. The Youth Track introduces a specific focus on young voters as the rising generation of political decision-makers, rather than on youth participation in the abstract.

While young people are often described as disengaged from politics, research increasingly shows that they are highly active in political debates and mobilisation, primarily outside traditional or institutional channels. Their political agency develops in digital environments shaped by creators, platform architectures, algorithms and artificial intelligence.

The Youth Track consists of four sessions addressing key developments in this landscape. Topics include the growing role of digital creators in political communication, gendered dynamics within online platforms, the impact of AI systems on political information and decision-making, and the emergence of technology-driven forms of activism and civic innovation.

Through this programme, the Evens Foundation aims to bring together experts from research, policy, civil society and technology to learn from their perspectives, contribute evidence-based insights into young voters’ political behaviour, support institutions in adapting to changing democratic expectations, and strengthen the civic potential of technological systems shaping political life.

Speakers for the Youth Track will be announced in the coming weeks.
